Gmail – How do I verify if the e-mails are caught by Gmail’s spam filter

I'm concerned that e-mails I'm sending are caught by the Gmail spam filter. I'm sending emails via Amazon SES and I neither see reports nor bounces. However, I have zero responses on my emails which make it seem that emails may be in spam folders.

I checked http://www.blacklistmonitoring.com/ and my email address is not blacklisted.

How do I verify whether my e-mails are put in Gmail's spam folder?

Maybe the text looks spammy – how do I check that?

By bypassing the spam filter with creating your own label, you are taking away Gmail's learning capabilities. There is probably a reason your emails are getting filtered as spam (lots of images, certain keywords, etc.)

I would suggest going back to the default: taking off your custom spam filter, placing all the known spam into the spam box by hitting the "Report Spam" button, and keeping an eye on the spam box for a while.

Put this in the body of the test email:

and it will force it to be recognized by Gmail as spam.
