Gmail – Is it possible to view the history of label use in Gmail

Is there a way to view a revision history of labels in Gmail—for instance, to find all messages that where Archived in a particular day?

Use case: used Boomerang program to have 100+ messages return, took messages out of inbox; Boomerang failed, and now I'd like to find those important messages that no longer have the Inbox label.

Not possible.

You can't filter, search or lookup when a label was added or removed from an email.

Another option would be to create a filter where it checks for your email address in the "From:" and the mailing list's address in the "To:" and applies a different label.

Matches: from:(slhk@example.com) to:(list@ffmpeg-user.com)
Do this: Apply label "participating"

It doesn't match exactly what you want to do, but the threads you're participating in will be easily found.

How to Hide Chat History from Gmail Inbox

I figured out how to get a filter to keep chat logs from appearing in the inbox. Create a filter with the following logic in the "Has the words" section:

is:chats

Anything matching this filter should "Skip the inbox" as its action. Problem solved!
