Google Apps Script – doPost() Request Not Received from Announcement Page

I have to pass data of an announcement from App script to my spreadsheet using Google App script. I have created an announcement page and I have an app script attached to the Announcement page which is a simple doPost(). It looks like this:

function doPost(e) {
  Logger.log(JSON.stringify(e));
}

For the same page; doGet() returns a response. However, doPost() returns nothing. I am unable to understand that I am able to see the data of post request when I open up my developer's console but not in the parameter of doPost(). I have also logged this an Announcement page issue. If someone can guide through this I would be very grateful to you.

It wont work like this. We need to use Google's Announcement class to get the list of contents from announcements page. For more reference, please refer to this link: https://developers.google.com/apps-script/reference/sites/page

If your script runs when the form is submitted, then presumably it is triggered on form submit. In this case, the function will receive an event object, in which the property values is the array of values submitted. This is the preferable way to access just-submitted form values, compared to fetching them from responses sheet.

The function would be like,

function processForm(e) {
  if (e.values[9] == 'something') { 
    // do something
  }
  else {
    // do something else
  }
}

Here the index is 9 because J is the 10th letter of the alphabet, and JavaScript index begins with 0.

As the post linked by Rubén calculates, there is plenty of entropy in the URL of a GAS web app. That post considers document Id, which has 44 characters; by my count, web app URLs have 54-55 random characters. You certainly don't have to worry about brute force attack.

The weak spot is you or your program leaking the URL in some way. This is somewhat troublesome because if you suspect a leak, you can't change the URL easily the way we change passwords. To guard against that scenario, you may want to generate a token for your program to send with its GET or POST request to the app. The app would do something like

doGet(e) {
  if (e.parameter.token == "valid_token") {
    return information;
  }
}
