I have a Google Apps account through work. I've noticed that when I add a calendar event there is a significant lag time between when I add the event and when it appears on my iPhone. Additionally, edited events don't seem to be reflected on my iPhone. Is there a way that I can ensure that events are added and updated in a timely fashion?

Judging by the placement of the calendar in your screenshots. One guess that I have is that you aren't actually creating an event on the right calendar.
Can you try hovering over the calendar in the screenshot, click the triangle icon to open the menu, and select "Create event on this calendar"
See if that works for you. If it does, then the reason you get the weird behavior is that you have to make sure you select that particular calendar to create events on (default behavior is your main, or personal, calendar).
There is a GApps user and calendar for each resource in your domain, and you can view it to see who booked the resource and for what duration.
- In your calendar, click the little arrow box next to "Other Calendars" and select "Browse Interesting Calendars". Who knows what you will find in here!
- Click on the "More" heading and then the blue carat (">") to expand the Resources for your domain.
- Click the "Subscribe" button next to any (all?) of the Resources that you want to view.
- The calendar will be displayed under "Other Calendars" on your Google Calendar page. You can then toggle the visibility as if it were a typical user's calendar.

To sync with your device, follow these steps:
After you've completed setup, open the Calendar app on your device and syncing will automatically begin.
By default only your primary calendar will be synced to your device. You can sync additional calendars by visiting the following page from any web browser:
Select the calendars you'd like to sync, and click Save. The selected calendars will display on your device at the time of the next sync.
