I just worked hard creating a Google Calendar and invited a few Google users. They got the invitation and opened it, but for them it shows all the events in blue—no event colours as I edited it.
Why is that? And how can I get them to see the same I do?
When I receive an invitation in my Google Calendar (I assume you mean Google Calendar, not Google+ Calendar), the sender of the invitation will appear when I click on the event in question. It is mentioned just below the 'Where' entry.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure if this is also the case with invites received from Google+.
Judging by the placement of the calendar in your screenshots. One guess that I have is that you aren't actually creating an event on the right calendar.
Can you try hovering over the calendar in the screenshot, click the triangle icon to open the menu, and select "Create event on this calendar"
See if that works for you. If it does, then the reason you get the weird behavior is that you have to make sure you select that particular calendar to create events on (default behavior is your main, or personal, calendar).

I think you are hoping that your colored calendar events are visible to other users? If so, here's what's happening:
By default, the "public viewing color" is what ever you have designated as your default within your calendar (via the drop down menu, per calendar)
