I'm looking for a solution/workaround for:
Google Docs does not provide a comprehensive page view as does MS Word. For example, when a Google doc is more than one page, there appears to be no method to see all pages simultaneously side by side as can be done in Word. Google Docs allows only a page after page- scrolling down or up only. Because of this, an efficient, multiple pages view of all pages on one screen cannot be accomplished.
Doesn't appear to be so. Google Docs isn't a full-fledged word processor after all.
What happens when text from one page gets pushed over to the other? Do they both get new revision numbers? Is it automatic?
Did you try uploading one of your Word documents and seeing how Google Docs converted it?
You might be able to fake something up by using the footnote feature in a non-standard way. Insert a footnote at the top of the page and the text for it should appear at the bottom of that page.
Whatever way you do it you're going to have to manually update each time.
To toggle between the view that shows the break pages and the one that hide them, on a Google document click on View > Print layout .

An alternative method to turn off the print layout view is to double click on the space between pages

Sadly, there is no workaround for this. Google Docs does not support such view mode/overview. The only thing you can do is to zoom out to see the whole page(s) but not all of them at once like in MS Word.
