Google-sheets – Drag and drop open csv in Google Sheets

The current process for opening a csv file in Google Sheets is cumbersome.

Open Google Sheets > New Document > File > Import > Upload Tab > Drag in File > Select 'Replace current sheet'

Would love a process, plugin, or single use site where I can just drag and drop a file and have it open in Google Sheets. Is that available or possible?

The process you are describing is not necessary: Google Drive already supports drag and drop. If you have "Convert Uploads" enabled in Google Drive settings, then all you need is to:

Open Google Drive.
Drag-and-drop a CSV file to the page.
Double-click to open.

If you don't have "Convert Uploads" enabled, then it's still 3 steps:

Open Google Drive.
Drag-and-drop a CSV file to the page.
Right-click and choose "Open with Google Sheets" (this creates a copy of the file in Sheets format, and opens it)

i would suspect that setting the expire-time for the .csv file could help. that would be something for the server to deliver.

OR you can trick the webbrowser by appending something random at the end of the url you are using to fetching the data (see my comment on your question):

http://example.com/myfile.csv?_invalidate_cache_of_browser_XYZ

and then you have to put some random XYZ into the url, maybe by usuing the rand() function.

Found out it had something to do with Compatibility Mode, and that drag and drop will work if you use it; However if you turn on Compatibility Mode on, it breaks something else, so you just have to tweek that based on what you are working with.

Also I'm told pressing the esc key will fix it for some reason...can anyone verify this?
