I know that Google sheets has a 2 million cell limit.

I can't seem to find any references on the limits for the new google sheet except that 2 million cell limit.
With the latest update of Google Drive size limits (Apr 2019), it says the following:
Spreadsheets: Up to 5 million cells for spreadsheets that are created in or converted to Google Sheets.
Simply ᴄᴏʟᴜᴍɴs × ʀᴏᴡs can't exceed 5 000 000 cells.
Additionally, the maximum number of columns can't exceed 18 278. According to Rubén
With the starting 26 columns (A-Z), the maximum height is 192 307, which is 4 999 982 cells
With the starting 1000 rows, a maximum of 500 000 columns is expected, but due to the second bound only 18 278 can be used.
Google My Maps will only import data from the first, or leftmost, worksheet in a sheets file.
You can still import multiple worksheets. First, import one worksheet and create a map layer. Then reposition the worksheets so the next one is in the leftmost position and import to the next map layer.
Rinse and repeat.

There is no reported limit outside the number of cells. There is a limit of 50000 characters in a cell, easily tested by trying to add more, so other limits may be found which are not listed.
There are also limits inferred by taking the cell limit into account. Meaning 2 million 1 cell sheets, or 2 sheets at 1 million cells.
