How do I subtract days from a cell that has dates?

For example, what's a formula that will take 3/2/2011 and return this value 2/28/2011?

You can do it similar to Excel. Simply subtract the number of days from the cell.

For example: If you have in cell A1 3/2/2011 you can get 2/28/2011 in a cell by entering the formula =A1-3

Use Conditional Formatting with three rules: (Format -> Conditional formatting)

"Date is before" "in the past week" -> red
"Date is after" in the past week" -> green
"Date is" "in the past week" -> orange

This will colour all dates more than a week away in green, all dates coming in the next week orange and the remainder of the dates in red. Empty cells will be left alone.

Delim means delimiter

array_1 means the cells you want to use.

=join(",",B1:B4)

Will put a comma between each value from cells b1 to b4. The result appears in the cell where you put the formula.

Note: the cells must be in the form as 1xN or Nx1 array. In other words all in the same row, or all in the same column.
