How do I change the default color for anything which I type into Google Sheets?
When it's a URL it seems to go to one color, when not, another. I'm not looking to delve into JavaScript. I just want everything typed or pasted in, any text at all, to be a specific color. Going back to change the font is awkward.
I want unconditional, or every condition, formatting. This is not a JavaScript question, nor is it how to set up conditional formatting.
I think I was trying to achieve the result across spreadsheets before (rather than sheets). If you put a number in A1 of SheetB and in A1 of SheetA Conditional formatting... like so:
then if you keep adding 1 to the value in SheetB!A1 the fill colours in SheetA!A1 should toggle red/pale blue.
The formulae I chose are of the type:
=iseven(indirect("SheetB"&"!A1"))
UPDATE FROM COMMENTS:
You need 3 custom format settings, all applide to the range B3:B. The First is set to
Format cells if... Cell is empty
and the fill is set to None
The second and third are Custom Formula where the Formula are:
For red:
=B4<B3
and for green:
=B4>B3
OLD INFO FOR Comments
You need 2 conditional format rules. Both applied to cells B2:B, with Custom formula is selected. In the first, set the formula to:
=B1<B2
and set the color to the Red you want to see. In the second, change the formula to
=B1>B2
and select the green color you wish.

This isn't 100% automatic, but the Table Styles Chrome plugin says it can apply formatting with one click. Does that help at all?
