I am new to GitHub. In fact, I have just made an account only to send the author of this program a message informing about an small extension I have developed for his program.
But I can not find a way to contact the author, nor report it in the programming branch.
Could someone please explain the method?

If the commit is not on the default branch, the indicator will show the branches which contain the commit. If the commit is part of an unmerged pull request, a link will be shown.
Once the commit makes it to the default branch, any tags that contain the commit will be shown, and the default branch will be the only branch listed.
I don't have enough info to tell you what search operators to use, but here are all of Google's advanced search operators:

You can string them together to get extremely specific results.
