Slack – Why is order of message in pseudo channel “threads” different
slack
In direct messages or normal channels the new messages are at the bottom (like in WhatsApp).
But in the pseudo channel "threads" it is different. There the messages are at the top.
Is there a way to change this?

The sort order in Slack is not configurable.
Normal channels display new messages at the bottom to follow the same format as traditional text message and chat platforms.
The Threads tab displays all of your sub-level conversations in one place. The threads with the most recent updates are displayed at the top of the window to draw the user's attention right away.
I got in touch with them, and this is the official response:
Unfortunately, the option to hide on screen messages is not something
we currently offer with Slack, although I see how useful this feature
could be. I'm happy to pass this along as a suggestion to the team for
future consideration! My apologies we don't currently offer this
feature or something similar. (Amie, Slack Support)
Open a direct message and STAR it to keep it showing on the sidebar. This is very useful because it does remove any duplicates that would show up in the direct messages part of the sidebar, so you still have plenty of space.
