I have created lists on my Trello board and added cards to the list. When I log back in the lists appear and they say '2 cards' or whatever next to the title but I can't actually view the cards!
It's like my lists have closed but I need to open them again so I can actually see the jobs on there.
You can give the coloured labels meaningful names, which I've found really helps.
It's not entirely obvious how to do this, at first:
Now, when you click on a card, and then "Labels...", the name you specified is displayed on top of the Colour swatch.
This at least saves people from having to remember the meaning you've ascribed to the different colours.
You still only get 6 colours to play with, though, and I don't believe that you can change the colours themselves.

I've just noticed that there's now a shorter route to renaming labels: At the bottom of the list of labels, there is now a link to "Edit labels (sic) titles":
You have two ways you can do this, depending on whether or not you want to make the board public. Both make use of the comments setting found under the board profile.
If you make the board public, you can select "public" under comments in order to allow anyone with a Trello account to leave a comment.
If you don't want to make the board public, you can create a new organization for members of your team and members of your client's team and associate the board with that new organization. Then you can select "organization" under comments in order to allow anyone in the organization to leave a comment.
As a bonus, you can do the exact same thing with voting.

It sounds like you've got a filter on. Click "Filter Cards" in the right sidebar, and then "Clear All Filters". Alternatively, hit 'x' to clear the filter.
