I have a private Trello board that I want to make invisible to the public, but visible to those that have the link to it. Is this possible? If so, how would I do it?

The public should not be able to see your activity on a private board. If you have an example of this, please submit it to support@trello.com.
It might be that the item is private but that's not obvious to you. We're working to make the visibility of a particular item more obvious.
Trello now offers an invite collaborators by URL feature (currently in beta).
Steps

- Add Members >
Invite people by giving them a special link… - Place the URL in a conspicuous place like your website or a Readme card of some sort along with some instructions for your collaborators.

Is making them members of the board or of the organization that "includes" the board not doable for you? Trello only supports Public / Organization only / Board members only settings.
