Twitter – How to determine the length of time an item is trending on Twitter

The search api used to be restricted to a limit of 150 tweets. And a year ago it was also restricted This limit is currently around 1.5 weeks but is dynamic and subject to shrink as the number of tweets per day continues to grow.

I would like to be able to add users to a twitter list without loading a separate page to find each user. So I would like to avoid going to their user page, but I'd also like to avoid having to load a page of search results (whether on twitter.com or on an external app) each time, as well.
