Which non-google email domains can edit google sites as admins

I set up a google sites site.

I added some people to administrate it.

I notice that one guy whose email address is his own domain like tim@blob.com it lets me add his email address.

Another person that's gary@hotmail.com it lets me add him

But then when I try to add sarah@msn.com it says "Sorry, you cannot share with sarah@msn.com because they do not have a Google Account."

Well, how does it know whether tim@blob.com has a google account. And why does it have no problem with gary@hotmail.com?!

When creating a Google account, one can use a non-google email address.

If a person's non-google domain email address could be added to administrate a google sites site, it was because they created a google account with that email address.

One other option with Sites itself: Create a new page of type "Announcements." While a bit "bloggish" I think it could work as forum too. Each of your forum posts would be an announcement post. Clicking through to each post gives the option to add comments.

Not glorious, but it does keep it all in Sites. :-)

Google Sites – Using JavaScript

You cannot add JavaScript directly to your Google Sites page. You can, however add a Google Gadget that has JavaScript in it. You can try the Google Gadget Builder. You may not get the result that you want, however, since your JavaScript is not valid. For example, your statements with (x)html elements will cause the JS engine to error.

It may work with E4X, but Google Sites is not rendered as XML. (Yes, it does have the XML doctype, but not the header, so it will not render as XML)

In addition to Google Gadgets, you can also try Google Apps Scripts. It allows for some server side automation.
