What is the purpose of using "feature" parameter in YouYube embed link?

The video is working fine if I use below embed tag,

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRFnsOUoHmM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

But when I changed the src value to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRFnsOUoHmM&feature=g-upl, the video won’t play. I have added the parameter feature=g-upl in this link.

I can’t understand the purpose of this parameter. And why it is not working?

There is no purpose to using the feature parameter in a YouTube embed link nor do I think you should be using that when embedding. When embedding a video YouTube actually has a different URL they use in the src field.

For example with the video link you are using your src field would use this url: http://www.youtube.com/embed/275VsDVauN8

When on the video's page you can click share and then embed and be presented with the options for embedding and the code you would insert into your html document to embed the video (see image below)

Using this tool on the share page should provide you with what you need to embed the right way. The feature parameter is not used in embedding.

I think you misinterpret what the user interface is saying.

The first option is embed

There are two options in the video interface.

Embed a video
Upload a video

You want option 1. If you want to add some text you can use the caption.

Another way to do this will be a regular "Add a Text" Post

From there you can use html and YouTube embed option (using the share link at the bottom of a YouTube video) to place it where ever you wish.

YouTube – Captioning Feature Gone?

YouTube continues to have support for both machine-based audio transcriptions and manually created captions / transcriptions.

It does not appear to be a function of the Flash vs HTML5 players.

Video owners can explicitly disable the machine transcription:

You can't delete the auto-captions, but you can hide them from viewers.

To prevent viewers from requesting auto-captions in the player, on the Captions and Subtitles pane, uncheck the box next to the track called English: Machine Transcription. If you change your mind, click the checkbox again to enable auto-captions.

Also, it appears that YouTube uses some heuristic to determine which videos receive a machine transcription. I was not able to find confirmation of this.

Using Google Chrome stable (v18) on Ubuntu, I was able to enable audio transcriptions by selecting the (CC) icon in both the Flash and the HTML5 interfaces on this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRyaW1DBMF4

The following video does not have a machine transcription available, though it is unclear if that is the decision of the video owner or a result of the theoretical YouTube heuristic resulting in a low confidence of speech being present: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w68qZ8JvBds

In addition to the machine transcription, there are two other options for video owners:

You can upload a caption file, with specific time coding and text to display as captions.
Video owners can let YouTube machine caption their video, then download, edit, and upload the polished transcription. YouTube will then display the captions at the appropriate time, without need for manual time coding.
