I have an old YouTube account which I can't log into. But one user PMs me frequently and I want to block him just him.
How can I do that?

Go to Google Dashboard, log in with your Gmail account and from there you can manage your Google account, including unlinking YouTube accounts.

From Google dashboard find Youtube and click on Profile Setup, then Manage Account, and under that you will have a button to close the youtube account, see screenshot.
The channel is the user. They are the same. If you go to the channel, and click the little arrow/gear in the top right, you can block them.
Also, you should try blocking the Google+ user/page associated with the youtube account.

If it bothers you, that means you are receiving notifications. Notifications are being sent to the same address as password reset token, so you should be able to reset your password, log into your account and block the user.
Another option you have is creating an e-mail filter to get rid of such private messages.
