my question simply is to know where is the origin of UART system. Is there any standard covering it.
I can only see similar question here but the only answer is saying Wikipedia !!!
I can see many chip vendors providing UART chips, but based on What? what is the standard describing UART and its framing?

I think the origin of the current UART protocol can be traced back to mechanicial teletype machines using the 5 bit Baudot code. Some of the timing requirements are based on mechanical considerations - the stop bit(s) allow time for the mechanics of the machine to get ready to recieve the next character.
