I was trying to install .NET 3.5 SP1 to one of our production machines with Windows 2003 SP2. However, the installer just hang at around 80% with message "Setup is loading installation components, This may take a minute or two". In fact it's been like that for 30mins already and using 0% CPU.
I disabled the anti-virus software and then applied the windows installer 4.5 update but no luck, the installer still hangs.
Anyone had this problem before?
What architecture is it? I have the .NET 3.5 SP1 redistributables, and their details are:
3.5.30729.13.5.30729.13.5.30729.1Hmm I see a pattern emerging here. Looks like you have the SP-1 install.
(P.S. You can this info verbosely by looking at the "Product Name" value in the Version tab of the Properties box)
Update: Turns out this information is not really correct. Look at the following screenshot:

Left = SP1 install, Right = Non-SP install. They are the same version number. I'm going to say that your version is the non-SP though, because SP1 is missing from the description according to your post.
Hm the role management tool only exists on Windows Server 2008. It's the replacement of Add / Remove Windows Components of the Windows Server 2003.
Is it possible that you need at least SP2 on your windows server 2003? Or try to install the newest .Net Framework 2.0 Release prior to install the 3.5 release.

Seriously either disabling the network adapter or pulling the ethernet seem to work for this issue. I have come across it recently, frustrating as all get out, but that was the answer.
